There is more to cycling than riding a bike. An integral part of the cycling experience happens off the bike, when we gather together and celebrate over fine wine and dining. The Gran Gala experience compliments time spent on the bike, offers unique opportunities for engagement with fellow cyclists, features special guests Fränk Schleck, former pro cyclist, Alison Tetrick, professional cyclist, and Matthew Accarrino, celebrity Michelin Star chef, and benefits Challenged Athletes Foundation. The Gran Gala package is offered separately and does not require participation in the Malibu GRANFONDO.

Private Ride with Fränk Schleck and Celebrity Guests
Join former professional cyclist and Tour de France podium finisher, Fränk Schleck, along with Alison Tetrick and other special guest celebrities for an easy afternoon spin around Westlake Village, CA. Hang out post-ride for a chance to visit with Fränk and Alison and hear how a pro recommends preparing for and riding a big event like the Malibu GRANFONDO on Saturday. This private ride is perfect for shaking out the legs and mental preparation.

Private Dinner and Wine Reception with Michelin Star Chef Matthew Accarrino
Join Michelin Star Chef, Matthew Accarrino, for a private evening that focuses on amazing farm to table food, fine wine and proper fueling for sport, hosted by Pedalers Fork in Calabasas, CA. Gran Gala guests staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village will be transported via private shuttle. Evening includes an exclusive off-menu dinner prepared by Chef Matthew, wine paring, and a very special Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) Grant Presentation. Special guests include Fränk Schleck, Alison Tetrick and CAF Athletes.

Hosted by Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, this very special and exclusive dinner with Fränk Schleck will be one to remember. Here is your opportunity to hear first hand stories from the road as told by a Tour de France, Springs Classics and other World Tour Events podium finisher - “should Contador have waited for Andy Schleck when he dropped his chain?” This sit down, three-course meal features your choice of main entree, complimentary wine, and private time with Fränk, Alison, Matthew, and other Gran Gala celebrity guests - a perfect finish to your big ride on Saturday.
Gran Gala Special Guests:
Fränk Schleck was born and raised in Luxembourg in the spirit of cycling with a dad and grandfather, both professional cyclists for years. In 2003, Fränk became a professional cyclist and joined the Danish Team, CSC. In 2006, Fränk won the Amstel Gold Race and the Alpe d’Huez stage of the Tour de France, marking his cycling career breakthrough. Fränk spent 15 years at the highest level of professional cycling, finishing on the Podium at the Tour de France, and is now retired from competition but not the sport. He continues to ride four to five hours a day and invests his time into other cycling projects outside of competing professionally. Fränk is very proud of his achievements and now being able to make a living out of his passion is a dream come true. Being an athlete at the highest level brings with it numerous fans and the responsibility to be an example – sport is essential for strong mental and physical health.
Matthew Accarrino is the nationally recognized chef of SPQR in San Francisco, CA, with a Michelin Star rating. You could say Matthew literally fell into cooking, growing up he had dreamed of being a professional cyclist. After a leg injury that left him learning to walk again and through a long recovery, he found his other life’s passion, cooking. His unique culinary style draws inspiration from his Italian heritage, personal experience and classical training with some of America’s best chefs. Today Matthew remains an avid cyclist, when not in the kitchen you can find him on the roads of Napa Valley on his bicycle or supporting the world of professional cycling through working with several teams. Matthew always enjoys opportunities to combine his two life passions, cooking and cycling.
Alison Tetrick has been a professional cyclist for 9 years, which she pursued after playing NCAA collegiate tennis. Alison was born and raised on a cattle ranch in California and currently lives in Petaluma, California. Alison was introduced to bike racing by her grandfather, who was an avid competitive cyclist and winning national championships at 86 years old. Alison has a B.S. in Biochemistry and a M.S. in Clinical Psychology. In 2014 she place 3rd at the World Championships in the Team Time Trial and won stages at the Tour de San Luis in Argentina and the BeNe Tour in Belgium. She has been a dominant member of the USA National Team, representing her country at races worldwide, including the Pan American Games. In 2017 she won and set the record for the Dirty Kanza 200, and won Gravel Worlds both in 2017 and 2018. Alison is dedicated to investing in the sport of cycling and serves on the Board of Directors of USA Cycling and the Board of Advisers for the Women’s Cycling Association.
